Eni-agbala What is this I hear from your mouth? A tale of how Eru-iku wants you back? He's sorry he ever let you go? He really wants to be with you again? Eni-agbala! What is that I see in your eyes?Longing? Regrets about leaving Eru-iku? Wait! Uncertainty? You don't know if you want him back too? Eni-agbala! Have you so quickly forgotten? Really, how can you? Ah, but I would remind you Eni-agbala Eru-iku played games, and you were his pawn He did with you as he so wished Ah ah, how can you say you want to go back? Remember, Eni-agbala How you cried yourself to sleep so many nights He'd made you do things you didn't want to do And you felt rotten inside That particular night, you screamed out for help You were tired of the pain you felt And the shame that came after Have you forgotten? You were a total nobody When Ore-ọfẹ found you He heard your screams that night And he ran to save you He had always been lurking around, stalking you You were the one who didn't pay

Behind the scenes

Just a Seed of Thought Cole and his friends were on their way home from school and as had become their custom, they paused at A.D.T supermarket to get some edibles (some things to snack on), there was these pair of sneakers that was currently in vogue, they would get themselves a pair each, some new shirts because...ah (man must not be caught 'unfresh'), and some other junks that they didn't really need and that some of them couldn't actually afford, but would always get anyways, because... well, Cole would pay. He always did, whatever he bought, he got the same for each of his friends too and he had quite a lot of them friends. What? He did not have a problem with it, after all he had the money 🤷🏽‍♂️ errrm... actually..his father did but he didn't think that made any difference.. (my Father's money, my money) that was what he'd always told himself. Besides, if his father should die, everything, cancel that, almost everything would be his. It would have b

How I exchanged my new android phone for 50 naira

Miserable Exchange I had gone to do a little something at my old school (OBAFEMI AWOLOWO UNIVERSITY) and was on my way back home. I was only going to take a quick detour to the bank. Teachers, we hardly get the chance to do anything else than teaching. Our mornings are never free to allow us go to the bank and I had some money I had been wanting to deposit for a long time. Luckily, I got this chance to go back to school where I could easily do my transaction and be out quick to continue my journey and I was going to grab it. Now, quick information about OAU if you’ve not been there. Basically, you don’t have money if you don’t have ‘change’. ‘Change’ in school means: small denominations of money, e.g. ₦10, ₦20 etc. Nobody could be bothered to break big denominations for you. And big denominations begin from ₦50 and above. Knowing this peculiarity and knowing the least amount I had was ₦200, I had asked my friend who I stayed with to give me ‘change’. She only had ₦50, which I thought w

An Easter spoken word

There's a reason we're Christians and the reason is Christ . It's just sad though that majority of Christians now just bear the title. "What's your religion?" "Oh! I'm a Christian". When are we going to understand that what we are doing is not and should not be merely RELIGION ? You hear things like 'Bornagain Christians'. Why do we have to emphasize that the Christian is one bornagain? Really, why? Because to me, a Christian is supposed to be born-again and if there's one that is not. He's really just not a Christian! Period! But you know, we have to put a demarcation between the real and the fake, so we say 'born-again Christian' I wrote this as a spoken word, my very first attempt at it. It's a reminder, of the reason why we are Christians and what our response should be. LOVE Let's go riiiight back to the start When nothing was up, Well….. at least that's what we know It’s a story about love, one about Grac

Let's know who you are

Unwanted Proposition "Hey Gift, How far na?" (How are you), Tina strolled into the room. "I'm fine..." Gift replied her friend absentmindedly and Tina noticed, but she decided to ignore her friend's 'downing' spirit, she had great news for Gift. "Guess what!" "What?" Gift asked in a bored kind of way. she was really in no mood for games, neither did she think she was interested in what Tina had to say (she only put up with her most of the time). But Tina will always ignore her obvious disinterest. "I got someone for you.." She said excitedly. Gift had absolutely no idea what Tina was going on about, 'What was Tina talking about? Someone for her?! Our lady continued though, "This man is fine and riiich" she dragged out the 'rich'. Now, Gift was just plain confused "And trust me, he'd give you anything, I mean, every single thing you want..." She droned on as she gesticulated with

It's not just Nigeria;, it's not just policemen, what about you?

Image
Let us know who you are I had reason to travel, once upon a time (not too long ago), and as the bus I was in, reached a police checkpoint, I saw the driver had squeezed an amount of money and stretched his hand out the bus towards the policeman who was supposed to 'check' us. I watched as the policeman 'secretly' collected the money and pocketed it, it was so fast, you wouldn't believe anything occurred, if you weren't already watching like I was. Not too long after that, I watched again as we approached another checkpoint and the driver this time, brought out a 500 naira note, now obviously this is big money, so the driver had to linger for some 'change', I saw as this policeman searched his pocket for 'change' for our driver, without an iota of shame. I mean, I couldn't see any sign of "I shouldn't even be doing this" on his face, none at all. When he couldn't find 'change', he beckoned, sorry, shouted at another
